Mission:
The mission of City of Newport Recycling and Convenience Center is to provide services, protect the environment, and promote recycling in order to ensure a safe and healthy community for current and future generations.
Newport has one recycling and convenience centers. Please help us reduce the cost of landfill expense and save landfill space by recycling!
Curbside Recycle Collection
Curbside recycling provides convenient recycle collection to households and businesses that are located inside the city limits by placing recyclables on the curb every week.
- Residents must sign up for collection by calling (423)625-3850.
- Residents will then receive a collection day and a truck will be routed every week to collect recyclables.
- Residents will receive a recycling container free of charge to place recycling in.
Acceptable Recycling Materials
PAPER
Flattened Cardboard (clean & empty)
Paper Containers & Cups (clean & empty)
Newspapers/Inserts, Phone Books, Magazines, Junk Mail & Office Paper
PLASTIC
Plastic Bottles, Cups & Containers (clean & empty) / NO Plastic Bags
METAL
Cans (clean & empty) / NO Paint Cans
The center does not accept these materials:
- Household chemicals
- Yard waste
- Hazardous waste
- Commercial
- Demolition
- Dead animals
- Wood
Holiday Schedule
Recycle collection schedules will be adjusted for the following holidays:
- New Years Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- President’s Day
- Good Friday (Friday before Easter)
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veteran’s Day
- Thanksgiving (Thursday & Friday)
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
Changes to your scheduled collection day during these holidays will be announced through newspaper articles, and local radio stations (WNPC and WLIK).
