Welcome to the Newport Parks and Recreation Department

The Department serves as the City of Newport's primary service provider of recreational and athletic opportunities. The Department is housed at and operates the Newport Community Center on Prospect Avenue. In addition to operating the Community Center, a multipurpose use facility with meeting rooms, a full-sized regulation gymnasium, an Olympic-sized pool, the Department also operates the Newport City Park and several satellite parks throughout the City.
 
Newport Parks and Recreation also participate in Little League Baseball and is the host of the Smoky Mountain Little League organization. The Department also operates and hosts recreational basketball opportunities in the winter and is the host of the Newport Roosters Little League Football program in the fall. Tim Dockery, a Newport-native, is the Director of Newport Parks and Recreation Department. For more information on the services provided by Newport Parks and Recreation Department, call 423-623-7304.

The City of Newport is committed to excellence in providing in diversity of leisure services to the community. This includes providing adequate facilities to address recreational needs, providing maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and extend period of use, and provide recreational programs to enable the participation of all regardless of age, sex, color, or creed.
