Notice of Bids

The City of Newport is now accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors for concrete for a period of July 1, 2026- June 30, 2027.

Sealed bids will be accepted at the office of the City of Newport at the following address no later than 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, City of Newport Finance Director Tim Matthews 300 East Main Street, Newport, TN 37821. Envelopes should be clearly marked with the Annual Concrete Bid. All bids must be submitted in accordance with these instructions. Bid may be mailed, or hand delivered but may not be submitted by electronic facsimile or email. Bids received after the prescribed time and date will not be considered. The City of Newport reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Newport. The vendor awarded the bid shall have and maintain all required licenses necessary for it to conduct business in the State of Tennessee and the City of Newport.

224 E. BROADWAY SIDEWALK PROJECT

    The City of Newport is seeking qualified contractors to submit bids for the installation of a new concrete sidewalk located in front of 224 E. Broadway, Newport, Tennessee. The project consists of the construction of approximately 5½ feet wide by 70 feet long and four-inch (4") thick concrete sidewalk, including all necessary labor, materials, equipment, finishing, and cleanup required to complete the project. The City of Newport will perform the demolition and removal of the existing sidewalk prior to construction. The selected contractor will be responsible for preparation of the area as necessary for placement of the new sidewalk and installation of the new concrete sidewalk to a finished condition acceptable to the City. Night and/or weekend work is preferred but is not mandatory. Contractors should coordinate scheduling with the City’s Community Development, Street and Police Departments prior to beginning work in order to minimize disruption to adjacent businesses and pedestrian traffic. The approved bidder must be properly licensed and insured and shall be responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and safety requirements associated with the work. Interested contractors are encouraged to inspect the project location prior to submitting a bid.

    Sealed bids shall be clearly marked “224 E. Broadway Sidewalk Project” and submitted to the City of Newport, 300 E. Main Street, Newport, TN 37821, no later than 2:00 October 7, 2026. The City of Newport reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities or irregularities in any bid, and to accept the bid determined to be in the best interest of the City. Award of the project will be made to a qualified and responsible bidder in accordance with applicable City purchasing requirements.
