Training

The City Of Newport Fire Department is a member of the Tennessee Firefighting Commission and has 27 full time firefighters. The goal of the training division is to provide the firefighting crews with the skills and knowledge to save lives and property for the citizens of Newport and its visitors. The City of Newport Fire department strives to conduct itself with pride and professionalism to promote the well-being of the firefighters and officers of the department. The training division meets and/or exceeds the current training standards set forth by the Tennessee Firefighting Commission and will continue to help improve the firefighting standards throughout the State of Tennessee. The City of Newport Fire Department meets ISO training requirements of 240 hours per year with an additional 40 hours required by the State of Tennessee. Training is conducted both inside the department and outside the department by State of Tennessee certified firefighting instructors.
